Welcome to the website of the English Mozart ensemble. Here you will find information about the EME, its recordings, 'Mozart' and 'Classics', and its season of concerts. For many years the English Mozart Ensemble has been building a reputation as one of this country's leading music groups. The founding principal of the ensemble was to perform outside of the major cities: to bring the finest quality musicianship to Britain's smaller towns. English Mozart Ensemble, in promoting this aim, perform in some of the most beautiful buildings in the world: namely the Parish Churches of England. The atmosphere at many of our concerts is enhanced by the use of candlelight. The effect of, say, a Mozart piano concerto performed in the 800 year old surroundings of Cirencester Parish Church, lit solely by over a hundred candles, is quite divine!
We are delighted to welcome on board our new sponsors for 2011: RICO,
the renowned reed-makers, and STRING GALLERY, the most comprehensive online resource for string players.
